The Villages of Lake Lure & Chimney Rock
The town of Lake Lure sits in the heart of Hickory Nut Gorge, 18 miles southeast of Creston. The Rocky Broad River winds its way down through the Hickory Nut Gorge and the water flows through the valley that feeds Lake Lure. The lake is surrounded by high mountain peaks. The climate is temperate as Lake Lure lies in the 'thermal belt' of the NC foothills. National Geographic named Lake Lure one of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the world.
