Looking for a handy organic garden or place to shop for healthy produce, meat, eggs and household products? Check out the Roots and Fruits Market in Black Mountain in the heart of town just behind the post office down by the railroad tracks. Warren Wilson College graduate Kyle Nuccilli and his mom, Sheila Nuccilli opened up the business one year ago and its caught on quickly with the locals. They grow their own vegetables right there as well as raise chickens on site. Additional food items are sourced from local organic farms so you’re assured of getting only the best ingredients.
But more than that, they have a wonderful food truck appropriately named “The Juice Box” permanently parked onsite where you can enjoy a great variety of breakfast or lunch items as well as smoothies and fresh juices. It doesn’t get any fresher than having the veggies picked, then put into the juicer!
Additionally, there is a small stage set up where you can enjoy seasonal live music. This Sunday, come out for brunch from 10 – 3 and enjoy live music by Flamenco guitarists Juan Benavides and Miles Pierce from 11 – 1.
Finally, have you ever wondered what to do with your old laptop batteries or cell phones? Rather than dumping them in the trash, drop them off at Roots and Fruits where they’ll take them to be recycled or disposed of properly. So check out www.rootsandfruitsmarket.com
