Black Mountain homes and mountain properties in a private NC gated community near Asheville.

Our hometown of Black Mountain is known as the 'Front Porch of Western North Carolina', and for good reason. It’s the first town visitors arrive at after climbing I-40 from the east. Black Mountain is the quintessential small town, having none of the big box retail and urban sprawl. Every store front in our downtown is occupied with locally owned boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and service providers. In one block you can have your nails done, grab some lunch, pick up some locally made crafts, tour two museums, sip on locally roasted coffee, get some supplies at the locally owned hardware store, have dinner at a sumptuous restaurant and take in live music at a true music hall, then cap it off with home made ice cream. If you want to work off some of those delicious foods, you may wish to take a walk around Lake Tomahawk or a round of golf at the Donald Ross designed Black Mountain Golf Course which for many years featured the longest hole in the world, a 747 yard Par 6! Or you can work out like a pro at the Cheshire Fitness Club featuring an 18,000 square foot state of the art center including cardio, free weights, indoor pool, racquetball, group fitness classes, massage therapy and hydro therapy.

All of your day to day service needs can be met in Black Mountain as there are numerous bank branches, building supplies, medical providers, outdoor gear, auto repair shops, rental supply stores, cell phone providers, mini-storage, gas stations, local and national pharmacies and of course groceries including our own local Farmer’s Market. All of this is just 14 minutes from the gates of Creston. If you should want to shop at the traditional big box stores such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Khol’s, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Barnes & Noble, Whole Foods and others, they are just another 15 minutes into Asheville. But why would you ever want to leave Black Mountain?
